Simple Head Wrap










Head wraps are popular in my area so I have been making these for several years now, I have added flowers, snowflakes and some has asked not to put anything on them. These are sure to add some style to any outfit. So here is a free pattern for a very simple and easy head wrap.




Crocheted head wraps are a must have in your crochet pattern library. They work up quickly, allowing you to create beautiful and fashionable head accessories, they also make great last-minute gifts, and gives you the flexibility to be as creative that you want. Head wraps are a simple small crochet projects that can be use for stash busting, using up yarn leftover from a other projects.








Crochet head wraps come in a variety of designs, including headbands and ear warmers.The variety of colors and the embellishments is so great that you can make a lot of these head wraps without ever getting bored. Plus, they add a pop of color and style to any outfit while keeping you warm and keeping your hair off of your face so you can look cute and be functional at the same time!



If you have not crocheted a head wrap, it's time to get started! This simple head wrap pattern will set you on your way, with a foundation for you to change up anyway you want and make it yours.











Pattern

Material:
  • Any WW yarn
  • Size H hook 
  • Yarn needle to weave in ends
  • One button
Abbreviations

hk - hook
sl st - slip stitch
sk - skip
sp - space
ch - chain
st - stitch
sc - single crochet
hdc - half double crochet

Note

 Finished head wrap will measure approx 22 inches if you work the head wrap to row 45 before you start your decrease to finish the head wrap.


Depending on how tight or loose you crochet will change how the head wrap fits. What I done is write my wife's and daughter's head size down, and all I do to increase or decrease size is add or subtract rows from 11-45 then proceed with the pattern to finish the head wrap.

Ch 1 does not count as first stitch.




Row 1: Ch 5, sc in 2nd ch from hk, sc each chain across to end, ch 1, turn ( 4 sts )

Row 2: hdc in 1st st, ch 2, hdc in last st, ch 1, turn ( 2 hdc, 2 chs ) Button hole made

Row 3: 2 hdc in 1st st, 2 hdc in ch 2 sp, 2 hdc in last st., ch 1, turn ( 6 sts )

Row 4: Hdc in each st across, ch 1, turn ( 6 )

Row 5: 2 hdc in 1st st, hdc in next 4 sts, 2 hdc in last st, ch 1 turn ( 8 sts )

Row 6: Hdc in each st across, ch 1, turn ( 8 sts )

Row 7: 2 hdc in 1st st, hdc in next 6 sts, 2 hdc in last st, ch 1 turn ( 10 sts )

Row 8: Hdc in each st across, ch 1, turn ( 10 sts )

Row 9: 2 hdc in 1st st, hdc in next 8 sts, 2 hdc in last st, ch 1, turn ( 12sts )

Row 10: Hdc each st across, ch 1, turn ( 12 sts )

Following rows is the main part or body of the head wrap. Adding or subtracting rows here will change the size of the wrap.

Row 11 - 45: Repeat row 10, ch 1, turn ( 12 sts )

The following rows will be decreasing back down to 4 sts, this is where you will sew on a button latter.

Row 46: Sk 1 st, hdc into next 9 sts, sk 1 st, hdc in last st. ch 1, turn( 10 sts )

Row 47: Hdc each st across. ch 1, turn. ( 10 )

Row 48: Sk 1 st, hdc into next 7 sts, sk 1 st, hdc in last st ch 1, turn. ( 8 sts )

Row 49: Hdc each st across ch 1, turn. ( 8 sts )

Row 50: Sk 1 st, hdc in next 5 sts, sk 1 st, hdc in last st, ch 1, turn. ( 6 sts )

Row 51: Hdc each st across, ch 1, turn. ( 6 sts )

Row 52: Sk 1 st, hdc into next 3 sts, sk 1 sts, hdc in last st, ch 1, turn. ( 4 sts )

Row 53: Hdc each st across. ( 4 sts )  Do Not Turn

Now working around the edge of wrap, you want to place 2 or 3 scs into the corners and 1 sc evenly spaced down each side. Sew on a button the will fir into the button hole and wont come loose. Sl st to first sc, finish off, weave in the ends. Now add embellishments as you like.
